CancerCare’s Pet Assistance & Wellness (PAW) Program addresses the distinct needs of people with cancer who share their home with a cat or dog. Dr. Fumiko Chino, a treating radiation oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, is part of our PAW Program panel of experts who are here to answer questions people undergoing cancer treatment may have regarding the challenges of keeping their pets at home.

Earlier this month marked a special weekend for families who have recently lost a loved one to cancer, as they joined together at Memorytown USA, in Mount Pocono, PA, for CancerCare’s annual Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp.

This month, we’re highlighting our Communications team, which plays an important role in shaping CancerCare’s internal and external messaging.

June 16 marked CancerCare’s Young Professionals Committee’s (YPC) 5th annual fundraising event.

In May, CancerCare’s Women’s Cancers Program and Sephora partnered to provide individuals impacted by cancer in the tri-state area with cosmetic bags filled with items from Sephora, including skin care and makeup products.

Dr. Lidia Schapira, a professor of medicine (medical oncologist) at Stanford University School of Medicine, is part of our PAW Program panel of experts who are here to answer any questions people undergoing cancer treatment may have regarding the challenges of keeping their cat or dog at home.

The Facilities team at CancerCare plays an integral part in the day-to-day operations of our organization. While their roles have shifted as a result of the pandemic, Facilities’ on-site presence is essential to logistics and infrastructure for our offices. This includes the implementation and maintenance of COVID-related public health and safety measures for staff members working in person.

This month, we’re recognizing the vital services our Co-Pay Assistance team provides CancerCare clients navigating the financial hurdles of accessing cancer treatments, including high co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance for prescribed treatments.

CancerCare was excited to celebrate with its supporters in person for the first time since 2019 at this year’s national gala, held on April 12, 2022, at the Ziegfeld Ballroom, in New York City. This year’s gala exceeded its fundraising goal, raising over $1,000,000 to help fund CancerCare’s free financial and psychosocial support services for people affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Our annual national gala takes place next week, and it would not be possible without our Special Events department.
