Last month, young adults affected by cancer met at the Peer Space Studio in Manhattan at an event hosted by CancerCare and Stupid Cancer.

This summer, 187 students in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut received backpacks full of new school supplies for the start of the academic year as part of CancerCare for Kids’ Back-to-School Program.

Women who are diagnosed with cancer gathered together on July 25 for CancerCare’s Women Empowerment Day at our Long Island office.

CancerCare and Stupid Cancer held a potluck picnic at Brooklyn Bridge Park on July 24 to bring together young adults impacted by cancer. Over twenty people attended, including CancerCare social workers Hayley Feuchs, LMSW, Sara Grisales Jaramillo, LMSW and Stupid Cancer staff.

Families who have recently lost a loved one to cancer came together at Memorytown USA in Mount Pocono, PA for CancerCare’s 15th annual free Healing Hearts Family Bereavement Camp from June 7-9, 2024.

June is National Cancer Survivors Month, with the first Sunday dedicated to National Cancer Survivors Day. This month is an opportunity for reflection and a chance to honor cancer survivors, support those still on their journey and remember loved ones who have passed.

The mission of CancerCare’s Pet Assistance & Wellness (PAW) Program is to help people diagnosed with cancer stay together with their beloved pets. Cancer impacts many aspects of each person’s life, from physical health to mental health, employment, finances, relationships and the ability to care for and keep a pet. For many of our clients, especially those that live alone, a pet may be their primary, or only, source of support throughout their cancer experience. The many stressors of a diagnosis, however, can put that cherished relationship with their pet at risk.

In December, CancerCare distributed warm winter accessories to 137 children and teenagers, as part of its Winter Warmth program and 149 children and teens received gift cards, as part of the Holiday Gift Card Program.

CancerCare, in partnership with Eisai, brought over 130 clients affected by cancer together in New Jersey for a festive holiday party in December.

Now in its fourth year, CancerCare’s Share the Warmth program provided new, warm coats to 75 individuals aged 50+ who are in active treatment for cancer in December.
