New Financial Assistance Available to Help Cancer Patients Get to Treatment
A cancer diagnosis is a very difficult time for many families financially, and costs such as transportation often prevent people from receiving proper treatment. We are therefore pleased to share that CancerCare has received renewed funding from Celgene Corporation for “CancerCare Get You There,” one of our transportation assistance programs.
The “CancerCare Get You There” program will provide individual grants to people with the following diagnoses to help offset transportation costs associated with treatment:
- Metastatic breast cancer
- Pancreatic cancer
- Squamous cell non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
Some examples of the types of transportation costs that are covered by these grants include gasoline, parking and tolls, and taxi, bus or train fare to and from their treatment.
For more information, or to apply for assistance, please call our Hopeline at 800-813-HOPE (4673). CancerCare’s oncology social workers are available to take calls Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. EST, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
“CancerCare Get You There” is one of several financial assistance programs offered by CancerCare. If you have been diagnosed with cancer but do not fall under the diagnoses covered by this program, we encourage you to view a complete list of CancerCare’s eligibility requirements and financial assistance programs.
