Carolyn Messner of CancerCare® is Named "Oncology Social Worker of the Year"
New York, NY, May 30, 2012—Carolyn Messner, DSW, has been named “Oncology Social Worker of the Year” by the Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW). Messner is Director of Education and Training at CancerCare, a national nonprofit that provides free, professional services for anyone affected by cancer.
For four decades, Messner has presented and published on cancer’s emotional and practical impact on patients, caregivers, and their families. She is a past President of the AOSW, and is a longtime instructor at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in New York City. Messner is also a member of numerous prestigious professional organizations.
Messner is the director of CancerCare’s Connect® Education Workshops, which are one-hour telephone and online workshops featuring the world’s leading cancer experts who present on a wide-range of cancer-related topics. Past workshops can be listened to over the telephone at any time, and are also available as podcasts.

Messner received her award at the 2012 Association of Oncology Social Work Annual Conference on Wednesday, May 30, in Boston, MA.
