Actress, Cancer Advocate S. Epatha Merkerson to Host "Partnerships in Hope" Awards Dinner
New York, NY, January 23, 2012—An innovative biopharmaceutical company committed to supporting those in need will be honored at CancerCare’s Annual “Partnerships in Hope” awards dinner, to be held on Thursday, February 23 at Gotham Hall in New York City
Celebrated actress and cancer advocate S. Epatha Merkerson will host this year’s dinner. Merkerson is best known for her portrayal of NYPD Lieutenant Anita Van Buren in the long-running NBC drama series, “Law & Order.” She is the recipient of a Golden Globe, Emmy, and Image Award for her role in the television movie “Lackawanna Blues,” and is also a two-time Tony Award nominee. Merkerson most recently produced and directed a documentary called “The Contradictions of Fair Hope.”
CancerCare’s "Partnerships in Hope" awards dinner, now in its 29th year, will honor Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company, a longtime supporter of CancerCare’s free educational services for people affected by cancer.
“This year's awards dinner recognizes Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company for their dedication to providing the most up-to-date information to people coping with cancer and their loved ones,” said CancerCare CEO Helen H. Miller, LCSW, ACSW. “We are grateful for their continued support of our free workshops and publications that help people affected by cancer.”
CancerCare has provided free support services since 1944 to anyone affected by cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones, and the bereaved. All of CancerCare’s services are provided by professional oncology social workers and are completely free of charge.
