CancerCare of Connecticut to Honor Bayer at Sixth Annual Connecticut Cares Awards Dinner
Charles and Jane Ellis Also Honored; Dinner Will Support CancerCare's Free Services For People with Cancer and Their Loved Ones
NORWALK, CT, February 13, 2006--CancerCare of Connecticut announced today that it will honor Bayer Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Charles Ellis, President of CancerCare of Connecticut's Board of Managers, and his wife Jane Ellis at its Sixth Annual Connecticut Cares Awards Dinner. Every year, CancerCare of Connecticut recognizes businesses and individuals who have supported its mission of improving the lives of Connecticut residents with cancer.

Its support of our national educational programs, as well as fundraising events here in Connecticut show the company's dedication to helping people throughout the country, as well as its commitment to its own community in Connecticut," said Diane Blum, MSW, Executive Director, CancerCare. "We are also thrilled to be honoring Chuck and Jane Ellis, whose long-time involvement with CancerCare of Connecticut and personal dedication have truly allowed us to grow our programs in this area."
The Guest of Honor from Bayer will be Paolo Pucci, President, Bayer HealthCare's Pharmaceutical organization. Mr. Pucci is responsible for the Global Pharmaceutical Management Committee. Bayer has supported CancerCare's national educational programs on renal cell carcinoma. On the local front, Bayer participates in CancerCare of Connecticut's annual golf invitational.
Chuck Ellis is former Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer of Time Warner Cable. In addition to serving as the President of CancerCare of Connecticut's Board of Managers, Chuck is involved with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Bridgeport, serves on the national board of The Appalachian Service Project, and co-chairs SkiTAM, the largest single fundraiser and funding source for the U.S. Disabled Ski Team. In addition to supporing numerous CancerCare of Connecticut fundraising activities, Jane Ellis currently serves on the board of Fairfield Christmas Tree Festival, co-chairs its largest income source, the boutique, and co-chairs the Greenfield Hill Congregational Church's most popular and historic event, "The Dogwood Festival."
The black-tie affair will be held on Friday, April 7, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich. The reception will begin at 7 p.m.; dinner, dancing and the awards ceremony will follow at 8 p.m. Kellie Quinn of New York's LITE-FM and Hartford's Country 92.5 will serve as emcee and Governor M. Jodi Rell is honorary chair. Tables and individual tickets are available at different levels. All funds raised from the dinner will support CancerCare of Connecticut's free, professional services for Connecticut residents affected by cancer.
