CancerCare® to Provide Financial Assistance for Cancer Patients Affected by COVID-19

CancerCare, the leading national nonprofit organization providing free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer, has launched a fund for cancer patients in active treatment affected by COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus.

Types of care covered by the grant include:

  • Food
  • Medications
  • General Household Living Expenses
  • Transportation
  • Homecare
  • Childcare

CancerCare is acutely aware of the disruption disasters and emergencies can cause to cancer patients and their families. In 2005, CancerCare promptly addressed the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita with a comprehensive program of support. In 2017, CancerCare raised $665,000 in direct financial assistance for people with cancer who had been impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria. In 2019, CancerCare launched the California Wildfire Relief Fund in an effort to support those affected. As part of our mission to provide help and hope to anyone affected by cancer, these funds enabled CancerCare to provide life-saving assistance to people struggling with cancer in areas impacted by disasters.

“Our top priority is the well-being and safety of our clients,” says CancerCare CEO Patricia J. Goldsmith. “We are grateful to be able to assist cancer patients affected by COVID-19 during this unprecedented time with funds and many other services that will help them, their families and their caregivers.”
