NEW YORK, NY (June 15, 2016) – CancerCare® is pleased to announce that its 28th Annual Festival of Hope Gala, held on May 18th, 2016 at the Park Savoy in Florham Park, NJ, raised nearly $165,000 to support families in New Jersey coping with cancer-related financial and social issues. A portion of the donations will directly support the Healing Hearts Bereavement Camp, a free retreat for children grieving the loss of a parent or loved one to cancer. CancerCare is a national nonprofit organization that provides free, professional services to people affected by cancer, with a regional office located in Ridgewood, NJ.
“We were honored and grateful to see not only the amount of people who attended, but who were able to give back to CancerCare,“ said Anne Marie Robertson, President, CancerCare New Jersey Board of Managers. “Our main priority is to help patients and their families cope with this disease by providing emotional, practical and financial support. The funds that were raised tonight will directly benefit this goal.”
The Festival of Hope Gala was proud to honor Helsinn with the 2016 Corporate Achievement Award and Joyce Heller with the 2016 Individual Achievement Award. Attendees also heard from Emily Prawler, a CancerCare client, who spoke about how CancerCare helped her and her family after her father was diagnosed with brain cancer.
“We are honored to receive this award by CancerCare, and we will continue to support the organization’s tireless efforts towards helping patients with cancer,” said Riccardo Braglia, Helsinn Group Vice Chairman and CEO. “We believe that every patient affected by cancer should have the chance to live a quality life. We hope that through our research and support, we can continue to spread awareness about CancerCare’s services.”
“I want to thank all those who attended The Festival of Hope Gala, and I am honored to be recognized by CancerCare,” said Joyce Heller, NJ Board of Managers member. “With all of the support that was raised tonight, we look forward to continuing another successful year ahead.”
